You've learned the concepts. Now it's time to practice. This lesson is your commitment to try budgeting for one full month.
Why 30 days? Because that's long enough to see results, but short enough to feel achievable. If you don't like budgeting after 30 days, you can quit. But most people who stick with it for a month discover it's easier than they thought — and they keep going.
The Real Goal of Month One
Your goal isn't to have a perfect budget. It's to build awareness of your spending and start the habit of tracking. Even if you go over budget in some categories, you're winning if you're paying attention.

What Counts as "Success"?
You don't have to be perfect to succeed at budgeting. Here's what success actually looks like in Month 1:

Week 1 (Day 7):
- Review spending so far
- Compare to budget
- Adjust the rest of the month if needed
Week 2 (Day 14 — Mid-Month):
- Check if you're on pace to meet your budget
- Identify problem categories
- Slow down spending in categories that are running high
Week 3 (Day 21):
- Final push — you're almost there!
- Celebrate what's going well
- Make any last adjustments for the final week
End of Month (Day 30):
- Full review: What worked? What didn't?
- Create next month's budget using this month's real data
- Celebrate completing your first budgeting month!
